Volunteer FAQs

Registration Questions

  • Volunteering for the Dow Championship is a great way to get behind-the-scenes access to an official LPGA Tour tournament. Other benefits include the opportunity to work with family & friends, make new friends and watch the best female golfers in the world compete. There are over 20 committees so you are sure to find an activity which appeals to your interests. You will also receive a Volunteer Package valued at approximately $400, filled with event gear and passes.

  • The standard volunteer fee includes the uniform (two golf shirts and head wear), one Volunteer Weekly Grounds badge, 2 Weekly Grounds guest tickets, meals during shifts, and invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party and the chance to win over $5,000 worth of prizes.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to work at least 3 shifts over the course of Tournament Week. Shifts typically last between 4-6 hours. Days and times may vary depending on the specific committee responsibilities.

  • There are volunteer opportunities for everyone! We have several committees to choose from that do not require any golf knowledge. Training sessions are provided for committees that require specific duties.

  • Yes, Scoring Control, STEM Center, Transportation, and Volunteer Services are all indoor committees. There are many others that are outdoors but underneath a tent as well.

  • Volunteer training is required for all committees, though the level of training will vary. Training sessions will take place in May & June 2024; times will be announced at a later date. Any questions can be directed to your Committee Chair(s).

  • Yes. Children ages 13 to 18 years old can volunteer as Pro-Am Caddies and/or Standard Bearers. Volunteers for the Transportation Committee must be 25 years of age or older.

  • Yes, please contact Kiara Peterman at kpeterman@outlyr.com.

  • Using the registration website, you have control over your shifts and times selection. Please coordinate with family and friends when selecting your shifts. If there are not available spots to work with friends, contact your Committee Chair or Kiara Peterman at kpeterman@outlyr.com and we will try to accommodate.

  • The shifts you select when registering online are confirmed shift assignments unless you hear otherwise from your Committee Chair(s) or Volunteer Coordinator, Kiara Peterman. Some committee chairs may adjust timing as we get closer to the tournament due to tee times being changed.

Uniform Questions

  • We ask that all volunteers wear khaki or black bottoms. Men can wear khaki pants or shorts. Ladies can wear khaki capris, pants, or knee length shorts or skorts. Jeans, cargo pants and cargo shorts are not permitted. Please do not wear prints.

  • If you’d like, you may purchase an optional outerwear item online during registration.

  • Uniforms will be distributed 1-2 weeks prior to Tournament week; time and place will be announced at a later date.

  • Volunteer uniforms can be exchanged during Tournament Week in the Volunteer Headquarters area prior to your first shift.

Onsite Questions

  • Yes. Your credential is valid for the entire week and we encourage you to enjoy the Tournament in your free time. Volunteers are welcome to watch golf before or after their shift, and on days off. On days that you are not working, we ask that you please don't wear your Volunteer uniform to reduce confusion.

  • Depending on your assignment you may want to bring a camping-like folding chair and appropriate weather gear. Keep an eye on the weather and bring an umbrella or jacket if you will need it. Be sure to bring your volunteer headwear and plenty of sunscreen if you are working out on the course.

  • Cameras are not allowed. Cell phones are allowed, but please make sure to keep the ringer on “silent”. Please refrain from taking any photos with your cell phone Wednesday-Saturday during Tournament play.

  • Please refrain from asking players for autographs when you are working as a Volunteer. If you are not working and not in uniform you may get autographs (please do not interrupt the player’s round). Autographs on the Volunteer uniform are prohibited.

  • Yes. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers on their scheduled work days. There will be snacks, coffee, water, and other assorted beverages in the Volunteer Headquarters area, as well.
