What: Tournament officials announced a preliminary list of notable pairings and players expected to appear in the 2023 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational taking place July 17-22. The official LPGA Tour event will return to Midland Country Club, with two-player teams competing in both foursomes and four-ball in a 72-hole tournament with a $2.7 million purse.

Fan favorites Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson, and Megan Khang are set to appear alongside other top LPGA players at the Dow GLBI. The 2022 defending champions Lizette Salas and Jennifer Kupcho will be partners again at the tournament. Notable teams for the tournament include Celine Boutier and Yuka Saso, Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Emma Talley, Stacy Lewis and Maria Fassi, Jane Park and Paula Creamer, Georgia Hall and Rayan O’Toole, with a full partner list to be announced the week of July 10.

Paige Crawford and Madison Barnett, as well as Annabelle Pancake and Savannah Grewal will join the final field of the Dow GLBI as sponsor exemptions. Paige Crawford received a sponsor exemption from THE JOHN SHIPPEN National Invitational, making her the first player to win two events in THE JOHN SHIPPEN. Competing alongside her at the tournament is Madison Barnett.

Annabelle Pancake also secured a spot when she birdied six holes, including four on Fortress’ back nine to win the Suzann Pettersen Qualifier presented by Frankenmuth Insurance. Last year her Clemson Tigers Women’s Golf teammate Savannah Grewal secured the exemption spot for the Dow GLBI and brought Pancake as her partner. This year Pancake will be bringing Grewal as her partner for the tournament.

Official tournament play begins Wednesday, July 19. The final Dow GLBI tournament field and partner list will be released the week of July 10 and is subject to change.

Over four days, players will play alternating rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and four-ball (best ball) competition. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 35 teams and any ties for 35th. In the event of a tie after 72 holes, the champions will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff using the foursomes format.
