Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational Opens Volunteer Registration
Inaugural event seeks 800 volunteers
MIDLAND, Mich. (Oct. 1, 2018) – Volunteer registration is now open to support the inaugural 2019 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, which will be held July 15-20, 2019 at Midland Country Club. The official full-field LPGA tour team event is currently seeking 800 volunteers to fill a variety of roles in more than 20 committees, including marshals, standard bearers, transportation and many more.
“The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational is for the community and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the positive response we’ve received from the Great Lakes Bay Region since announcing the LPGA tournament,” said Chris Chandler, Executive Director of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational. “We’re looking forward to next year’s event, which we certainly couldn’t do without a passionate and dedicated team of staff and volunteers.”
During registration, volunteers have the ability to select their desired committee, shift dates and times. Volunteers are encouraged to register early since committees and shift times are filled on a first come, first serve basis. It is preferred that volunteers work three shifts in a single committee. A full list of volunteer committees can be found here.
“Volunteer opportunities aren’t just for avid golf fans,” said Matt Hilliker, Tournament Director of the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational. “While some committees require golf knowledge, there are plenty of roles that require no prior golf knowledge or experience, so there is truly something for everyone.”
For a $45 registration fee, volunteers will receive numerous benefits such as: two (2) official tournament volunteer golf shirts, one (1) official tournament hat or visor, two (2) complimentary weekly grounds passes for family and friends, two (2) volunteer appreciation party invitations, and meals and beverages during scheduled shifts. The volunteer badge is valid as a grounds pass all week, as well as provides parking and shuttles to event grounds.
The 2019 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational will host a full field of 144 of the world’s top female golfers for a 72-hole, stroke-play team event comprised of 72 teams of two. Over four days of competition, players will compete in alternating rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and four-ball (better ball) with a $2 million purse.
